Loss – a poem

A piece of my soul
Is missing
And no one understands

The grieving of a loss
Loss of love
Loss of a future
Loss of myself

I’m trapped in a box
That the world expects me to climb out of
A box with no light and no way out
A weight on my chest
I can’t breathe

Why can’t the world understand
That I’m not alright?
Why am I expected to be fine?

It’s easy for the world to tell me
That everything will be okay…
They’ve never had to lose you

  1. Anna, I am so sorry that you are having to go through this right now. Such a sad poem to read, but with a very valid point. No one should expect you to be fine until you’ve had time to heal. You are in my prayers!
